BioLEAP: The Biology Education Advancement Program
Through BioLEAP, we seek to help teachers with next-generation advancements toward better and more humane biology education.
BioLEAP: A Brief History
Initially established as a humane product loan program and help hotline, BioLEAP has grown to better meet the needs of science teachers. Today, we supply grants that help teachers purchase animal dissection alternatives that are humane, reusable and effective. We also offer free supplemental learning materials.
BioLEAP: A Program of NAVS
The National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing science without harming animals. As a program of NAVS, BioLEAP brings the humane science mission to biology education, helping educators gain access to innovative teaching tools and materials that are ethical and more effective.
Our core values drive our dedication to ensuring the biology education resources we provide are engaging and accessible.
Sound Science
We support our claims on the value of humane education using peer-reviewed research.
Reliable Resources
We work with teachers, curriculum developers, and scientists to ensure high quality, accurate resources.
Established Ethics
We base our material on the 3Rs, a set of ethical guiding principles that are accepted worldwide.
Affordable Advancements
We supply grants to help cover lab material costs and provide all learning materials for free.
We Partner with Teachers Across the Nation
We currently work with teachers in 19 states representing schools from the elementary level to college. Educators across the country are receiving our grants, teaching our material, and helping develop new content to share the benefits of humane biology education with their students, colleagues, and administrators.
We help to empower students and parents to opt out of classroom dissections that conflict with their ethics or beliefs. Learn how to advocate for humane science education.
